I think I am missing something, but I cannot find a way to designate a watchlist as the source of symbols for a simulation.

There is no way to designate a watchlist as a source for symbols because it isn't really necessary.
If your watchlist is a static watchlist then you can copy the symbols and put them in the symbols selection control (Custom Symbols).
If your watchlist is a filter watchlist then you can use the same filters in the symbols selection control.

If you want to be able to select a watchlist as a source of symbols then let me know and I will add this feature in a next release.

Watchlists are my starting point and where I tinker endlessly trying to get things 'just do'. It would be very convenient if such watchlists were then conveniently the symbol source for both simulation and (when ready) real-time trading. In particular, changes to a watchlist would then automatically 'flow through' to trading and simulation.

Thus I would find it a convenient feature to be able to designate a watchlist (named collection of filters) as the symbol source.

Thanks very much for your prompt and useful responses.

-Pete

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
