                                                   Issues with 'company_desc' object/database

This database has developed some issues:
- rather than replacing or updating information for a symbol the database is carrying multiple entries per symbol.
- columns are misaligned in some cases, with sector name showing in the fiscal_yr_end column in the latest update for example.
- the 'optionable' flag is inaccurate in many cases (and different from prior entries in many cases).

This has been a most useful object (Object id: 487) up to this point.

(This may not be the right place to post about this but I don't see another place that is appropriate.
A forum or support context would seem more appropriate than a private contact or misusing the review capability?)

It does work for me. To see the downloaded data and how it is parsed, select the item then click on "Update". Click on the "Parser" button.

Please note also that this item was updated 19 days ago. Download the new version and see if it works for you.

I have sent snips to support that illustrate the situation. ~Pete

In the fourth try, the data was downloaded but not in the right order. I have sent a message to the trading object owner asking if he can fix this.

Note that this item do no replace or update information. For each download, it adds, to the database, an entry (market, industry, optional...) that corresponds to the download date.

I thank you for your support (off list) on this. After exchanges with support I re-installed the object and the problem seems to be cured.
(It remains a curiosity why the object retains multiple entries per symbol in the database as opposed to updating/replacing existing entries?)

This has to do with the parser settings. (Data is associated with today date - The fundamental data could change over time)

You can make it add only one entry:
- Update the item
- Click on "Parser", select the first item then click on "OK".
- Click on "Next" then "PreScript"
- Add the following code: date = "01-01-2011"; after the first line (string date = DateTime.Now.ToString...)

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
