Hi,

I am currently using the downloader 'Historical Stock Market Data' to download EOD quotes for Bursa Malaysia.

However I realize that the EOD data is not available on the same day even after the market closes, which of course hinders me from making any sort of analysis
and screening at night.

I have searched for faster ways to download EOD data and manages to find the updated daily EOD data in the form of CSV. May I know how do I manually load
it into Quantshare?

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Ivan,

Please use "Data -> ASCII Import" to manually import data into QuantShare.

Hi,

The ASCII Import function can only import files that has 1 line (1 file = 1 quote)

Is there any way to import multiple quotes with only 1 file? This is the file format that I currently have:

<Name>,<TICKER>,<PER>,<DATE>,<OPEN>,<HIGH>,<LOW>,<CLOSE>,<VOL>,<OPENINT>
ICAPITAL.BIZ BHD,ICAP.KL,D,20150114,2.3300,2.3300,2.3200,2.3200,520,0
AHMAD ZAKI RESOURCES BHD,AZRB.KL,D,20150114,0.6950,0.7000,0.6850,0.7000,5428,0
BENALEC HOLDINGS BERHAD ,BENALEC.KL,D,20150114,0.6400,0.6450,0.6350,0.6400,23184,0
BINA PURI HOLDINGS BHD,BPURI.KL,D,20150114,0.5350,0.5400,0.5350,0.5400,300,0
BREM HOLDINGS BHD,BREM.KL,D,20150114,1.0100,1.0300,1.0100,1.0200,1820,0
CREST BUILDER HOLDINGS BHD,CRESBLD.KL,D,20150114,1.2300,1.2300,1.2300,1.2300,0,0
DKLS INDUSTRIES BHD,DKLS.KL,D,20150114,1.8000,1.8000,1.8000,1.8000,20,0

Appreciate if you can further assist in this. Thanks.

Hi Ivan,

This is not correct. You can also import files with multiple symbols.
You just need to add a "Quotes -> Symbol" column in the appropriate order

Given your example:
Quotes -> Skip
Quotes -> Symbol
Quotes -> Skip
Quotes -> Date
Quotes -> Open
Quotes -> High
Quotes -> Low
Quotes -> Close
Quotes -> Volume
Quotes -> Open Interest

Hi,

I have formatted the file into excel file with each field separated by column as below:
3A 20150121 0.97 1.01 0.97 1.01 22798 0
A&M 20150121 0.88 0.88 0.865 0.87 4481 0
AASIA 20150121 1.07 1.07 1.07 1.07 0 0
AAX 20150121 0.67 0.675 0.665 0.67 18194 0
AAX-CA 20150121 0 0 0 0 0 0
AAX-CB 20150121 0 0 0 0 0 0
AAX-CC 20150121 0 0 0 0 0 0
AAX-CD 20150121 0 0 0 0 0 0
AAX-CE 20150121 0 0 0 0 0 0

and I have added in the column in the ASCII import like what you mentioned
Quotes -> Symbol
Quotes -> Date
Quotes -> Open
Quotes -> High
Quotes -> Low
Quotes -> Close
Quotes -> Volume
Quotes -> Open Interest

With date format YMD and separator as "tab". However I am getting error from the parser. What else am I supposed to do?

Really appreciate your help as this is crucial for me to decide if I were to continue using Quantshare.

Hi,

Thanks for your help so far. It works perfectly now! Seems that I need to use a text delimited file format for the importer to work.

Hi,

I have another question. After importing my data via ASCII importer, I realized that some of my data weren't translated to the chart correctly.

For example,
<TICKER>,<PER>,<DTYYYYMMDD>,<OPEN>,<HIGH>,<LOW>,<CLOSE>,<VOL>,<OPENINT>
AAX,D,20150121,0.67,0.675,0.665,0.67,18194,0

The High and Low is 0.675 and 0.665 respectively in the parser preview output. However when it is imported to the charts it is shown as 0.67 and 0.66 instead. Is it that the chart can only interpret up to 2 decimal points? How do I change that?

Does it show 2 decimal points in both the top of the chart and the right Y axis?
What does it display in "Data -> Edit Databases"?

On the chart Y-axis it shows 3 decimal points i.e. 0.668 but the top of the chart is only 2 decimal points i.e. 0.67

In Data -> Edit Databases also show 2 decimal points despite the data in my file is 3 decimal points. Even after I attempt to manually change the data in edit databases to 3 decimal points, the changes doesn't seem to be reflected and it reverts itself once I close the window.
