Daily US Stocks Data

There are two ways to download EOD quotes. Downloading data by symbol (one request for each symbol) or downloading data by date (one request for each trading day).

If you are downloading data for few stocks, the first solution should be more appropriate for you. However, if like me you are updating your whole end-of-day database daily then you will better appreciate the second solution.

There are several downloaders for US stocks that get data by symbol. I can cite some: Historical Stock Market Data, Historical Share Prices - U.S. Markets, US Historical Quotes from NASDAQ website, Quotemedia Historical Quotes.

But there is only one that I am aware of that gets data by date. In addition, the problem is that it gets only the last trading day, so if you missed one single day then you must use other items to get the missing data (Daily Stock Quotes - Stock Market EOD Data).

The current downloader gets end-of-data for U.S. Stocks (from Amex, NASDAQ and NYSE exchanges) by date. The historical data spans from 2001 to present. You specify the start and end dates and the downloader will retrieve all quotes for all U.S. stocks that occurred during this interval.

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
