This list of symbols contains stocks listed on U.S. OTC Markets (Over-the-counter). Trading in OTC markets is done directly between two traders/investors without any kind of supervision from the exchange. The trading is done electronically.
It contains more than 18000 stocks from different security types (Common Stock, Ordinary Shares, Fund, American Depository Receipts...) and different tiers (OTC Pink Current, Grey Market, Finra BB, OTCQX U.S. Premier, OTCQX International...)

This list of symbols was retrieved from the OTC Markets website (otcmarkets.com).

Symbology:

OTC stock symbols are issued by FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority).
Each symbol contains five characters. The first four follow the symbol convention used by Nasdaq and the fifth character indicates the status or security type of the underlying stock.
The security type could be: Class A Shares (A), Class B Shares (B), New Issue (D), Foreign Issue (F), First Convertible Bond (G), Voting Trust Shares (J), Bankruptcy (Q), Delinquent in Filings (E)...
