The current function retrieves data from the quotes or a custom database then performs a calculation on the different values that occurred within each analyzed bar.
Here is an example:
Imagine you are working with monthly data and you want to return the average close price (daily data) for each monthly bar. In this case, you can simply type the following instructions in your chart's formula:
a = GetDataAdv("eod", "close", "", "avg");
plot(a, "Avg Close");
Brief explanation of the different fields:
Field 1: Specify the database to use. Either you can use "eod" (EOD database), "intraday" (Intraday database), "tick" (Tick database) or you can type the name of the custom database.
Field 2: Specify the field. For a custom database, it is one of the fields that belong to that database. For built-in databases, you can use "close, open, high, low, volume or openint".
Field 3: The symbol name to analyze. Set an empty string to get data for the currently analyzed symbol.
Field 4: The calculation method:
count: The number of values that occurred within each bar
sum: The sum of the values
avg: The average of the values
first: The first value
last: The last value
max: The highest value
min: The lowest value
Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
