Hello,

I have a CSV file, which I want to read using "ASCII Import" option and associate data with a custom database. How do I do this?

I was referring following of your blog:

https://www.quantshare.com/sa-124-how-to-create-custom-databases-in-your-trading-software

but in this, it is not clear how to associate the name of the "Custome database" while loading the data. Please see below the para in your blog:

"If you have a CSV, or Text file that contains data and you would like to use this data to populate your database, then the "ASCII Import" plug-in is the right tool to use. This plug-in is located in the "Data" menu."

Please let me know how do I go about doing this.

Thanks and best regards

This is what I received from QS support and it works:

=================
Hello,

Please check this how-to lesson:
https://www.quantshare.com/how-377-how-to-import-trading-data-from-csv-files
----------------------------------
It is the same process but instead of using the "Quotes" database on the "Settings" step in the previous article I sent you, you need to select the custom database But first, you need to create a custom database using "Data -> Edit databases".
=================

Thanks QS Support team for your help.

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
