Earnings database

Download the earning release date and time for US companies. On running this downloader, a new custom database (fund_earnings) with two fields (earning and ispm) is created.

The earning field gets a value of 1 on the date-time the earning is going to be released. The (ispm) field is used by the scripts to solve the date problem format. The date-time loaded from the content provider is in the following format (hh:mm:ss AM or PM). The Pre-Script goal is to set the (ispm) field to 1 if (PM) is found, then the Post-Script searches for dates that have the (ispm) field set to 1. If a match is found, then the Post-Script adds 12 hours to this date.

For each symbol, the database will store the date-time at which the earning is going to be released. A simple script could be created to detect whether the earning will be released before or after the market opens.

The most obvious way to use this data is by creating a watchlist and displaying a list of stocks that are going to release their earning today or in the near future.

You can check the 'Automatically add new symbol' in the 'CSV settings' form (when updating a download item), to automatically fill the database with US stock symbols.

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
