For traders interested in the Singapore Exchange, I have created an item that downloads historical EOD quotes data for companies listed in the SGX or Singapore Exchange. The item automatically adds symbols to your database (quotes database), so it does not need any symbols list in order to work. However, if you want to get additional information about the symbols (company title), you can use the symbol list I have uploaded at the following URL: Singapore Exchange. This symbols list has information about 794 companies listed in the Singapore Exchange.
The data is grouped by month, all quotes data for all symbols and for the selected month are saved in a single ZIP file. This makes the downloading process much faster than if the data was downloaded for each symbol individually, as it is the case with the Yahoo downloader for example. However, unlike the Yahoo downloader who gets always the last available quotes, in the current item, trading data of the current month is only available at the beginning of the next month.
Therefore, this downloader can be helpful if you are doing backtests, but you would probably choose another downloader, like the Yahoo downloader (Yahoo EOD historical quotes), in case you need to work on the most recent data.
NB: The symbol 'STI' refers to SGX market index (Straits Times).
Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
