This Russell Latin America item is composed of three indices, constructed using a market capitalization-weighted methodology, the Russell Latin America Index, the Russell Latin America Growth Index and the Russell Latin America Value Index.
The indices are developed by the Russell Company and they cover several companies listed on Latin America exchanges. The top five countries represented by these indices are Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru.

This item downloads historical prices for these indices. The indices prices account for dividend distributions and they are reported in U.S. Dollars.
Note that the downloaded data contains also indices prices without dividends and indices prices with dividends net of tax. The data is also reported in three currencies: USD (U.S. Dollars), GBP (British pound), and EUR (Euro). You can easily modify the downloader to get any of these items.

The following are the three ticker symbols created by this downloader:
^Russell_Latin_America: This index tracks the performance of several Latin America companies
^Russell_Latin_America_Growth: This index tracks the performance of several Latin America growth stocks
^Russell_Latin_America_Value: This index tracks the performance of several Latin America value stocks

Stocks can be divided into two groups. Expensive ones are called "growth" stocks and cheap ones are called "value" stocks.
Russell classifies companies (determine the percentage of growth and value in a company) using price/book (fundamental ratio) and projected growth rates. If a stock is 30% value then 30% of its market capitalization will be used in the value index. The remaining 70% will be included in the growth index.

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
