The penny stock news picks Watchlist displays penny stocks that have at least two news items in the current/last trading day.
The penny stock picks watchlist looks for stocks whose share price is less than 2 dollars (micro and small cap stocks); it then uses the "GetDataCount" function to retrieve the number of news items per day. Only stocks with at least two news items are accepted, all other stocks are ignored. Another function "GetDataStringCount" may be used to get the number of news items that contains one or several specific words.
The "GetDataCount" function gets news data from the "google_news" database. A database that contains news data for US stocks and that is populated by the following trading item: News data for US companies from Google RSS feed. You can also use Yahoo News or maybe StockTwits instead of Google news item.
These penny stock picks are usually thinly traded and may experience a big move (in percentage), in either direction, after news releases.
For penny stock EOD data, I used to get them using the default downloader, however now I am working with US Historical Quotes from NASDAQ website. This item gets not-rounded penny stock prices unlike most other historical data downloaders.
Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
