Indicator/Price Value on a Specific Trading Date

by Brian Brown, 5059 days ago

This indicator gets a time-series, a day, a month and a year and returns the value of this time-series at the specific date (Date calculated from the provided day, month and year). The indicator name is "ValueOn" and it uses the "ValueWhen" function to return that value.

To specify an unknown day/month/year or to make a field optional simply replace its value by zero.

For example, a formula that gets the value of the close price of a stock on 5 January 2009 could be translated into:
ValueOn(close, 5, 1, 2009)

And a formula that gets the value of the close price of a stock on 5 January of any year is translated into:
ValueOn(close, 5, 1, 0)

The close price was used as an example and it can be replaced with any other time-series, indicator or trading rule.
As an example, the relative strength index of any instrument for the first day of December 2008 can be retrieved by calling the following formula:
ValueOn(rsi(14), 1, 12, 2008)

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
