Few weeks ago, I have uploaded two trading items that download data from Google trends to create sentiment indicators.
The Permabear Sentiment Index is constructed by adding Google trends volume of four pessimistic and popular traders (Roubini, Nassim Taleb, Peter Schiff and Marc Faber). The Roubini Sentiment Indicator represents Google trends volume of Nouriel Roubini, a professor of economics. The sentiment indicator measures the popularity of the "roubini" keyword.
The Rosenberg Index is the search volume index of the "David Rosenberg" keyword in Google trends. David Rosenberg is a chief Economist and Strategist at Gluskin Sheff. He provides a top-down perspective to the investment process of his firm.
The ticker symbol of the Rosenberg sentiment index is "^GOOGLE_TRENDS_ROSENBERG". The symbol is created by the downloader just before the data is added to your historical database.
According to this post (http://justinpaterno.com/2010/09/09/the-rosenberg-indicator/), Rosenberg index may be considered as a contrarian indicator.
In order to get the Rosenberg Index data, you will have to update the download item by clicking on "Update" in the Download Manager. In the new form, click on "2 Fields" then type your Google email and password.
Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
