I tried Add Indicator->Database->company_desc-> sector / industry, which gives me this function GetDataCount('company_desc', 'sector');
But the function doesn't display industry or sector.

1) Do i have the right database and fields? My company_desc->sector field shows the industry and company_desc->industry shows a number.
How do i get the text names of sector and industry for all stocks?

2) How do i display the names in pivot table rows and screen rows? And use them as filters in strategies?

thanks
Kiran

This is a custom database and any custom database is created either manually or by a downloader.

If you want to get the sector or industry of a security then you need to fill the sector/industry for each stock or use the "Symbol -> Auto Manage Symbols" tool. After that you can get that data using these functions industry() and sector()
