When I draw a horizontal line (or any other), change the properties like thickness and color, and press "save settings" and "default"
the next time I want to draw a horizontal line it should have the properties I have save.

For me this does not work.

Common settings (color, thickness...) can be updated using the setting buttons of the drawing tools bar.
The "save settings" button to not save these settings. Do you think we should change this behavior?

"Common settings (color, thickness...) can be updated using the setting buttons of the drawing tools bar."

Where is it? Cant find a button "save settings" in the drawing tools bar.

"The "save settings" button to not save these settings. Do you think we should change this behavior?"

Yes, of course. What is the button save settings in the properties for? ;-)
But what for is "default"

BTW: save setting and default in the properties should have to different functions as I understand it:
default: take the settings of the drawing and make it default. Every time I use a horizontal line, I want it green and dotted.
save settings: display the altered settings in the chart immediatly and stay in the properties dialogue; more like "apply"

Anywhere: would be nice to say the program, that my "standard horizontal line" is green and dotted

There is no "save settings" button in the drawing tool bar. Every change is automatically saved (color, thickness...). These settings apply to all drawing items.

The "save settings" is for specific settings. Each drawing item has its own specific settings. (Example: distances for the line tool)

"Default" loads the default specific settings of the selected drawing item.

Thank you for the suggestion. They should be ready for the next release.

Take a line for example. Change its color to Red then select "Save settings". Each time you create a line, its color will be Red.
Right click on a line, open settings and click on "Default". Next time you open a line, its color will be black (default settings).
