The Lifetime License includes:
- One year of free upgrades
- One year of free access to QuantShare Sharing Server
- 60% discount on upgrades (+ one year free upgrades and free access to the sharing server)

You publish the above on your website but also state that major and minor upgrades are free?

So if I purchased the Lifetime Licence, are upgrades free, or will I just get 60% discount?

Thanks

Robert

Hi Robert,

Upgrades (major and minor) are free the first year (starting from the purchase date)
After the first year, you can get an additional year of free upgrades at 60% discount.

i'm confused now. so how does this work?
say i purchase a lifetime subscription, which apparently is not lifetime..... what will my costs be going forward?
i shell out 245 now for 12 months, then every 12 months i need another annual subscription at 40% of 145 = $58?
or if i have a life time subscription i need to buy upgrades at 60% discount, but i do not see any referene to pricing of (past)updates?
please clarify?

If you purchase a lifetime license you can use QuantShare for life. You will also get 12 months of free upgrades.

After the first year, you can purchase another 12 months of free upgrades (at 60% of $245). It is not mandatory.

okay. but what sense does it make then to buy a lifetime license? you need the updates anyway because one thing is certain, probably sooner than later there will be another change in operating systems or internet connections or whatever that QS has to adapt to which makes an upgrade necessary because my 'lifetime' version will simply not work anymore. 60% of 245 is $ 147 so a customer will be better off buying an annual subscription at $145/year and have all the bells &whistles available at all times ....???
don't get me wrong, I actually do love what I have seen from QS during the few days that I am playing around with it!!! I just could not (and probably still not :) get my head around your pricing structure .....

It is like any software program, you buy a license and you can use it for life (Windows XP for example). You can later choose to get an upgrade (Windows 7) or continue using the current version (XP). Changes in the operating system or any other changes should not break the program (unless these are big changes).

I made a mistake in the above post, the discount is 60%, so that you will get a full year of upgrades at $95. In addition, the lifetime license allows you to use QuantShare offline.

Am I right to assume that I can make a purchase and expect the support and software to work? (nevermind the upgrades, I get the point that I will have to buy a the higher version at discount)

When I bought my lifetime licence, you guys NEVER told me that I have to upgrade to a new licence in order to use the share server. I was under the impression that the share server is part of the package. Now that I try to download an object, I'm told that I need to upgrade the damn license in order to download. I don't mind the fee. But I like it to be upfront. I hate suprise like these.

they always get you on the impossible to read fine print after they say "unlimited access to share servers"...

does a lifetime license = lifetime access to download symbol ticker data? That's all I care about. I can save my VM and only buy upgrades to new download scripts when I need to.

Hi Joshua,

Please note that QuantShare does not provide data. Data is downloaded automatically from free sources. Once you get an item (such as a downloader) from the sharing server, you will get lifetime access to it.

Thank you, that answered my question perfectly. Sounds like I should create a static snapshot
