Custom Trading System Rebalancing

I had the QuantShare development team build this advanced money management (AMM) script to allow testing of several advanced rebalancing options triggered when a new buy signal is received but insufficient margin is available to take the new position.

When a new buy signal is received and insufficient margin is available to take the new position...

Option 1: Rebalance the portfolio so all new signals can be taken up to the maximum number of positions (defined in the AMM inputs). This option will sell some shares of current holdings to make room for X number of new positions.

Option 2: Swap positions, with the option of selling the (a) oldest position, (b) least profitable position, or (c) using a "custom" option that allows an indicator value (e.g., 100 - RSI(2)) to choose what position to discard, and replace it with the new signal. The formula to use for item (c) is defined in the AMM inputs.

Option 3: Reject the new position(s). This is the default QuantShare functionality.

Option 4: Sell all current positions, do NOT take the new signal/position, and remain flat until the next signal comes in.

Option 5: Sell all current positions, and take the new signal(s) using the default size for new positions. If multiple new signals are received and taking all of them using the default size for new positions would exceed the available margin, then, like in option 1 above, size all positions to fit within the available margin.

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
