Standard & Poor's, S&P, is well known for several stock market indexes. It releases the S&P 500 for the US market (US Indices), the S&P/MIB for the Italian market, the S&P CNX Nifty for the Indian market (NSE Nifty - S&P CNX Nifty), the S&P/ASX 200 for the Australian market and the S&P/TSX for the Canadian Market.
S&P/TSX Composite Index is composed of stocks listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, with a trading volume exceeding 0.025% of the sum of all eligible securities trading volume and with a market capitalization that represent at least a weight of 0.05% of the index. Some other conditions must be filled in order to include a stock in the S&P/TSX Composite Index.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index is a capitalization-weighted index that tracks the performance of the largest companies on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Stocks that are part of this index represent about 70% of market capitalization for all TSX listed companies.
