The SIX Swiss Exchange offers the access to historical quotes data for Swiss companies on their website. The data are grouped by date and by type. It is available in CSV or ZIP format.

This item downloads the data that are stored under the Swiss Blue Chip Shares, Mid & Small Caps Swiss Shares, and Foreign Stocks categories. The Swiss exchange doesn't keep the data that is more than one month old, and thus this downloader gets only quotes from present to one month back.

Item information:
- New symbols are automatically added to the symbols database.
- Some lines contain only the close price; these lines are ignored.
- List of symbols can be downloaded from the following location: SIX Swiss Exchange, this list contains the symbol name, the ISIN number, the company's industry, the stock type, the indexes the company belongs to, the company title, the company currency and the company's country.

If you need to download EOD data that are older than one month, you can use the Yahoo downloader (Yahoo EOD historical quotes). However, you will need to update the tickers symbol name1 (Yahoo downloader takes the value in name1, but this could be changed) and append to them the exchange suffix (.SW). This could be easily done using the 'Bulk Updater' (Symbols -> Bulk Updater).

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
