NYSE Euronext website (www.euronext.com) provides investors with historical end-of-day data of stocks listed on the Euronext Amsterdam exchange. Euronext Amsterdam, previously known as the Amsterdam Stock Exchange - AEX, is said to be the oldest stock exchange in the world. The exchange is part of Euronext group which contains also Euronext Paris, Euronext Lisbon (Lisbon Stock Exchange) and Euronext Brussels.
Ticker symbols available in the Amsterdam stock exchange item should be downloaded first. This list has more than 190 ticker symbols and it contains details and information about all the companies listed on the Euronext Amsterdam. Besides ticker symbols, the list contains also the companies title, the companies ISIN code, the companies Euronext code, the companies country, the companies currency, the companies industry and the yahoo-compatible companies symbol. This gives you the possibility to use Yahoo EOD historical quotes to download EOD data.
After you add the Amsterdam stock exchange list of symbols, you can start using this item to download historical quotes. The data is downloaded directly from the exchange website and it is very clean. The data spans from 1999 to present.
Additional information:
In the downloaded data, the volume field is equal to '-' for some stocks on some specific days (No trading activity and no transactions occurred during that day). Internally the downloader assigns a value of zero to the volume for these stocks and for these specific days.
This downloader uses the ISIN code, which stands for International Securities Identifying Number, to retrieve data from the Euronext website. The ISIN code is a number that uniquely identifies a certain security. ISIN codes are available in the Amsterdam stock exchange object.
Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
