List of ticker symbols of companies listed in the National Stock Exchange (NSE, Indian Stock exchange)
This exchange is owned by the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and claims to be the third largest stock exchange in the world in terms of volumes.
While the Bombay stock exchange is much older than the NSE, the latter has a presence in much more cities.

This NSE list contains 1046 stock ticker symbols.
It contains the regular ticker symbol name in 'name' field, the yahoo symbol name in 'name1' field and the ISIN NUMBER in 'name2' field.
The company full name and the market lot are also included.
The description field doesn't contain the listed company description but rather the date of listing of the company.

You can use the EOD yahoo downloader to download historical quotes for these NSE symbols, just make sure that the yahoo downloader uses 'name1' when grabbing the symbol name.
This information can be set by updating the field under the 'Symbol' column when updating a download item.

The indexes symbols, like the S&P CNX Nifty, are not included in this list. Only BSE stock ticker symbols are included.

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
