How to add trades from one portfolio to another one

Updated on 2012-03-01

You can easily add trades of one portfolio to another portfolio. This can be accomplished in four easy steps.

Steps:

- Open the "Portfolio" tool by selecting "Portfolio" in the application main menu then "Portfolio" again.
- Select one portfolio (A)
- Right click on that portfolio (A) and select "Import trades from another portfolio"
- In the new form, select the portfolio (B) whose positions will be added to portfolio (A)

It is also possible to add a portfolio's trades to another one by selecting "Tools", in "Portfolio" form, then "Import trades from another portfolio".

Note that this operation does not affect the original portfolio's trading system or settings such as the maximum number of positions, long/short cash...

It only adds current and historical trades or transactions of portfolio (B) into portfolio (A) and consequently updates portfolio measures such as the number of holding assets, return, drawdown, equity, portfolio value and available cash.

Trading financial instruments, including foreign exchange on margin, carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to invest in financial instruments or foreign exchange you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.
